Iran urges closer cooperation with WB

Washington, April 14, IRNA – Iran’s Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Tayebnia in a meeting with World Bank (WB) Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa Christian Anderson on Monday called for development of relations.
  The two officials met on the sidelines of the spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington.
“Iran is keen to utilize World Bank?s experiences in all fields including environment protection, road traffic safety, air pollution prevention and natural disasters preparation,” Tayebnia noted in the meeting.

He called for the World Bank technical and financial support for various Iranian projects.

“Expansion of economic relations with the international bodies including the World Bank is a priority of Iran’s economic policy,” the minister added.

Ms Anderson for her part welcomed expansion of relations between Iran and the WB.

Tayebnia, left Tehran for Washington last Tuesday to attend the spring session of the IMF and the World Bank Group.

Each year, the annual spring and autumn meetings are held in mid-April and mid-October in Washington respectively, and every three years a member county hosts the annual summit.
