25 Feb 2014 - 17:42

Tehran, Feb 25, IRNA - Head of Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council Ali-Akbar Velayati here on Tuesday described the process of Iran-5+1 nuclear negotiations as progressing.
Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Singaporean Foreign Minister K Shanmugam.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes within the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) framework, he added.

If the international community respects Iran’s inalienable right for pursuing peaceful nuclear technology, nothing would hinder the mutual agreement, he said, stressing that such an approach would remove the existing misunderstandings.

Velayati stressed that Iran and Singapore enjoy significant potentials that would lead to further expansion of bilateral cooperation in various areas.

Shanmugam, for his part, underlined that he is to hold talks with senior Iranian officials to become acquainted with Tehran?s stances.

He also expressed hope that Iran could achieve the position it deserves in the international arena.

Shanmugam also voiced his country?s willingness to promote political and economic cooperation.
