24 Feb 2014 - 14:47

Many Iranian tour guides and representatives have flocked to Iran’s southeastern province of Kerman to celebrate the seventh International Tour Guides festival, Press TV has reported.
Nearly a thousand Iranian tour guides along with some foreign guests took part in the gala held on February 21.

The event has been held in Kerman on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Bam earthquake to demonstrate the province is again safe after the destructive earthquake and is currently ready to host tourists from across the world.

“This year’s event was warmly welcomed, as we had high ranking officials from a presidential deputy as well as provincial officials," said the event’s organizer Ali Zandipour.

After some years attempts, Iran has become a safe destination for international tourists, the Head of Iran’s Cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism organization, Masound Soltanifar stated at the gala.

“Well obviously you have the magnificent area and sites that are unique and very old, so you have everything that you could use, so the potential is here and what you need is infrastructure and you can build up by investing money locally," said the President of the World Federation of Tourist Guides, Felicitas Wressnig.

Iran enjoys exceptional geographical location among the countries across the globe and a strategic point as it is located at the connection center between east, west, south and north.

Iran (Persia) is amongst the pioneers of the global civilization. The country is also renowned for its rich cultural heritage.
