Iran decisive response will make enemies regret: Dehqan

11 Feb 2014 - 21:08

Iran’s “strong and decisive” response to possible provocations by the US and the Israeli regime will make the two allies regret their actions, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan says.
Speaking in Tehran on Tuesday, Dehqan added that Iran’s Armed Forces currently enjoy the highest level of preparedness.
“What enemies place as an option on the table will not undermine the Iranian nation’s determination,” he stated, adding that the Iranian nation has never sought nuclear arms and weapons of mass destruction and “Islamic Iran has no need for nuclear weapons.”
“The US is lying that it does not seek regime change [in Iran] and the sole objective of the Americans is to fight the Islamic establishment of Iran,” the Iranian minister pointed out.

He emphasized that Iran would continue to defend the rights of Muslim nations and would support popular and anti-Zionist currents anywhere in the world.

The minister further pointed to the successful launch of a long-range ballistic missile and said it will greatly increase the country’s deterrent power.

“The Iranian nation has always sought to increase its defense capability,” Dehqan stated.

On Monday, Iran successfully test-fired a new generation of a long-range ground-to-ground ballistic missile with a fragmentation warhead and a laser-guided air-to-surface and surface-to-surface missile dubbed Bina (Sighted).

Despite its defense breakthroughs and self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
