Swedish FM to meet senior Iranian officials

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt is scheduled to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on mutual, regional and international issues, a top Iranian official says.
Immediately after his arrival in Iran on Monday, the Swedish foreign minister traveled to the city of Isfahan to visit historical monuments and he will return to Tehran to hold talks on Tuesday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi said.

Bildt’s visit to Iran comes as the last visit by a Swedish foreign minister took place by Anna Lindh 13 years ago, he added

The Swedish foreign minister will wrap up his visit to Iran on Thursday, the Iranian official noted.
“A meeting with [Iran’s] Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and talks about improving the relations between the two countries are among the foremost schedules of the Swedish foreign minister in his trip to Tehran,” Takht-e-Ravanchi said.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to Stockholm Hamid Reza Shakeri Niasar said on Sunday the Swedish foreign minister’s visit to Iran is aimed at reviving mutual relations.

“The visit will be an important, turning point in mutual relations and will have a positive impact on improving mutual relations and expanding economic cooperation,” the Iranian diplomat said.
