Iranian feature length film From Tehran to Heaven has been selected to represent Iran’s cinema at the 43rd Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands.

Directed by Abolfazl Saffari, the film is scheduled to be screened on January 25, 27 and 31 at the festival’s main hall.

The 75-minute film chronicles a pregnant woman’s desperate search for her husband within a surreally disorganized city. The woman named Ghazal returns from a sonogram to find her husband Farhad missing and her apartment ransacked. Kidnapped and beaten, she is threatened with further violence in finding her husband.

From Tehran to Heaven has been presented in the 2013 Sydney Intercultural Film Festival and the Montreal World Film Festival.

Rotterdam annual festival offers a window to the world, presenting a quirky and world-famous selection of recent new films and film-related visual arts.

The festival in its last year’s edition dedicated a particular section to Iranian films titled ‘Modern Iranian Cinema.’

This year’s Rotterdam International Film Festival is programmed to take place from January 22  through February 2, 2014.
