Putin urges Tehran, Moscow to use abundant capacities to promote ties

17 Jan 2014 - 16:50

Moscow, Jan 17, IRNA – Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Tehran and Moscow to implement their abundant capacities to further expand bilateral relations.
In a ceremony here on Monday during which Iran?s new ambassador to Moscow Mahdi Sanaei presented his credentials to the Russian president, Putin called for a higher level of ties between Iran and Russia.

Putin termed his recent talks with his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members as ?constructive? and hailed cooperation between the two countries over Afghan and Syrian issues as well as Iran?s nuclear program.

The Russian president called Geneva nuclear deal between Tehran and the six world countries (P5+1) as a significant achievement for the international community and expressed hope the deal would not be something just on the paper.

Geneva Deal will lead to a comprehensive solution to Iran?s nuclear program because it recognizes Tehran?s right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, Putin said.

Iranian new ambassador to Moscow, Mahdi Sanaei, a former member of parliament, used to serve as Iran?s cultural attaché to Russia (1998-2002).
