Iran’s ‘Parviz’ to take part in Dhaka film festival

Iranian filmmaker Majid Barzegar’s feature length movie Parviz is set to represent the country’s cinema at the 13th edition of Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.
The movie is slated to contend for awards at the competition section of the festival along with 20 other participated films.

Centered on family relationships, the film depicts the story of a man at his fifties, Parviz, who has spent life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.

Barzegar’s comedy drama, Parviz took part in several international festivals and grabbed awards.

The movie received Jury Special Prize at the 13th NETPAC and named winner at the 10th Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Armenia.

The film also competed at the New Directors section of the 2012 San Sebastian international film festival in Spain.

The movie was also presented at the 2012 edition of Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.

Parviz won the Golden Crow Pheasant award at the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in India.

The 13th Dhaka International Film Festival kicked off on January 10 and will run until 18, 2014. The general theme of the festival is "Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society."
