Iranian publishers to invite Khaled Hosseini

11 Jan 2014 - 11:08

A number of Iranian publishers are planning to invite the Afghan-born American writer Khaled Hosseini to the 2014 Tehran International Book Fair.

Several Iranian publishing companies are slated to send the invitation to the internationally renowned novelist Hosseini, said Mohammad Ali Jafarieh, the director of Salis Company, a major publisher of Persian translations of Hosseini’s books in Iran.

Hosseini’s previous creations The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns were warmly received by Iranian readers.

His debut novel The Kite Runner in 2003, which strongly inspired from the writer’s own life, was the number three best seller for 2005 in the United States.

The Kite Runner has been adapted into a film of the same name directed by Marc Forster released in December 2007.

Hosseini’s latest book And the Mountains Echoed is being translated by Mehdi Ghabraei into Persian.

The book chronicles around the relationship between ten-year-old Abdullah and his three-year-old sister Pari and their father’s decision to sell her to a childless couple in Kabul.

The Persian translated of Hosseini’s third book And the Mountains Echoed will be released by Salis Publications in the near future.

The 27th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) will take place from April 30 through May 10, 2014.
