5 Jan 2014 - 17:07

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Kamancheh maestro, Keyhan Kalhor’s new album, a joint production with prominent Turkish Baglama player Erdal Erzincan, entered the list of the top ten albums of 2013.

The album is the Keller Quartet’s recording of string quartets by Gorgy Ligeti and Samuel Barber, produced by Manfred Eicher at Radiostudio DRS Zurich and Kayhan Kalhor & Erdal Erzincan’s "Kula Kulluk Yak???r M?" – a live recording made in Bursa, Turkey.

They have performed several joint programs in some music events such as the New York’s GlobalFest held at the city’s Marlin Room in January, 2013.

Kalhor is known for his brilliant performances on the traditional instrument of Kamancheh and creating a unique mixture of classical Persian music with folk tunes of the Kurdistan region.

On the other hand the jury of the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritiik" (Prize of the German Record Critics), has awarded two recent ECM releases recognition as "artistically outstanding new releases", and therefore admits them to the list of best recordings of the third quarter of 2013.
