Israeli forces injure Palestinian farmer

21 Dec 2013 - 16:51

Israeli military forces have shot and injured a Palestinian farmer in the Gaza Strip, a day after they killed a Palestinian in the northeastern city of Beit Hanoun, Press TV reports.
Press TV sources say the Israeli forces opened fire on the farmer in the east of the city of Khan Yunis, near the border fence with Israel, on Saturday.

On Friday, Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinians in Beit Hanoun, killing a young man and injuring several others.

On December 14, Israeli troops also targeted a Palestinian when he approached a so-called forbidden security zone east of Khan Yunis. The Palestinian subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The Israeli military often targets Palestinians along the border with the Gaza Strip, which remains literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli blockade.

The siege has turned the densely-populated coastal sliver, home to some 1.7 million Palestinians, into the largest open-air prison in the world.

Tel Aviv has imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007.

According to Palestinian rights groups, over a dozen Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the first half of 2013 and nearly 1,800 Palestinians, including women and children, were seized during the same period.
