Iranian director Majid Barzeger’s latest drama Parviz is set to compete at the oldest independent film festival in Washington, the DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF).
Barzeger’s comedy drama is to contend for awards at the competition section of the 15th edition of the event.

Centered on family relationships, the movie depicts the story of a man at his fifties, Parviz, who has spent life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.

Parviz has participated in a number of international festivals and won several awards so far.

The movie has nabbed top award at the 18th Kerala International Film Festival in India held few days ago.

The movie received Jury Special Prize at the 13th NETPAC and named winner at the 10th Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Armenia.

The film also won at the New Directors section of the 2012 San Sebastian international film festival in Spain.

Launched in 1999, DCIFF gives independent filmmakers opportunities for their voices to be heard.

The 15th DC Independent Film Festival is slated to take place from February 19 through 23, 2014.
