Vienna ready to boost trade ties with Iran

Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA – Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Friedrich Stift voiced his country’s readiness to expand trade and economic ties with Iran.
Making the remark in a meeting with acting Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Ahmad Doust Hosseini here Sunday, he said that Austria has always maintained ties with Iran even during political crises.


He noted that Vienna has never decided to close down its commercial office in Iran stressing that new chapter will be opened in bilateral economic relations once the sanctions are eased or removed.

He said Austria has never encouraged any sanctions against Iran and hopes for a new phase in bilateral ties after removal of the sanctions.

The Iranian official said though ties with Austria has been overshadowed by political issues, both countries are expected to try to remove all obstacles to expansion of bilateral relations with firm will.

He also described the present level of trade exchanges between the two countries as low.
