Russian President Vladimir Putin has welcomed recent nuclear deal between Iran and six major world powers in the Swiss city of Geneva, saying it is "definitely useful for everyone."
"Russia of course welcomes the agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. The agreement is largely based on Russian proposals," Putin told reporters during his official visit to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, on Monday.

On November 24, Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council- the US, Russia, France, China, and Britain- plus Germany sealed a six-month accord to lay the groundwork for the full resolution of the West’s decade-old dispute with Iran over its nuclear energy program.

In exchange for Tehran’s confidence-building bid to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities, the Sextet agreed to lift some of the existing sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

The Russian president further expressed hope that Iran and the six countries would continue joint work on the nuclear issue soon.

"Conditions have made for it," Putin said.

Meanwhile, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said his country has a positive view to the Iranian nuclear issue.
"Iran is an important country for Armenia. That is why we of course view positively the peaceful resolution of issues between Iran, the EU and US," Sargsyan told a news conference following talks with the Russian president on Monday.
He added that the Geneva deal is "an important step promoting stability and security at the regional and global levels."

After the Geneva agreement was sealed between Tehran and the six countries, Putin called the historic deal as a “breakthrough,” cautioning that it is only the first step on a long path.

"A breakthrough step has been made, but only the first on a long and difficult path," the Russian president said.
