The Iranian Interior Ministry says the country is set to dispatch a delegation to Pakistan to pursue the security deal between Tehran and Islamabad following the recent deadly attack on Iranian border guards.
On Sunday, Deputy Interior Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Hossein Ali Amiri expressed regret over the terrorist attack on Iranian border guards and said, “In order to follow up on this issue and the security agreement with Pakistan, we will travel to this country.”

Fourteen Iranian border guards lost their lives and six more were wounded in a shooting assault in the border region of Saravan in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on October 25.

The assailants had infiltrated into Iran from Pakistan and fled back into Pakistani territory following the attack.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran expects the Pakistani side to be precise enough in investigating this terrorist incident,” Amiri said while briefing Majlis on details of the assault.
On October 29, the Iranian Foreign Ministry called on Pakistan to identify, apprehend and extradite the perpetrators of the terrorist attack.

Pakistani Additional Secretary of Foreign Ministry Masroor A. Junejo denounced the terrorist attack against Iranian border guards on October 28, vowing to make every effort to identify those behind the assault.

In February, Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering activities which pose a threat to the national security of either country.
