Japanese cultural festival, during its programmed tour in several Iranian cities, has kicked off in the country’s northwestern city, Tabriz.
The event began its work during an opening ceremony held in Tabriz’s Art House on Tuesday morning, November 29.

A number of various programs are to be presented in the gala including art workshops, seminar on Iranian music, Japanese origami, calligraphy and cartoon.

Richi Miyake’s lecture on modern Japanese urban architecture will also be part of the Japanese programs in Tabriz.

Organized by Japan’s Embassy in Iran, the festival started its work with holding an illustration workshop by the Japanese paper-cutting artist Shu Kubo at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran on October 21.

“Iran and Japan have many common beliefs in culture such as hospitality, patience, respecting family and friendly manner,” Japan's former Ambassador to Tehran Kinichi Komano had earlier expressed.

“Iran and Japan have rich cultures, and the cultural and artistic exchanges can pave the path for the development of mutual understanding between the two nations,” Komano added.

Iranian historical city of Isfahan and Japan's Kyoto were named sister cities on the sidelines of the meeting held at the Japanese cultural week in Isfahan in 2012.
