Tehran short film festival releases 2013 documentary lineup

Some 38 Iranian and foreign documentary productions are slated to compete at the 30th Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF), organizers announced.
The films were selected by the documentary section’s committee members including Sivash Sarmadi, Mahnaz Mazaheri and Ali-Asghar Fahimifar.

No Man’s Land by Michael Graversen from England, Born Positive by Carla Simon Pipo from Scotland, Railway Redemption by Santiago Posada from UK and Ancestral Delicatessen by Gabriel Folgado from Spain are among the selected foreign films.

The City I Know by Ehsan Masoumi, Secret of a Statue by Farshad Ektesabi, Taftan by Houshang Mirzaei andMangroves by Abdolaziz Qasemi are the Iranian participants of the section.

Over 1895 films produced by foreign filmmakers from 64 countries were submitted to the event, the secretary of the festival Hashem Mirzakhani had earlier announced.

Some 218 films, submitted by the directors from 15 Asian countries, are among the selected movies that are set to be screened in the Asian Cinema Competition section.

The selected Asian productions are coming from Lebanon, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and several other countries.

South Korea with 55 films and India with 49 hold the festival’s records for having the most number of participated films in the Asian section.

Some 83 films by French filmmakers, 19 productions by Germans and 14 films by British directors are also among the received works.

Organized by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS), TISFF annually hosts many Iranian and foreign short productions in the capital city of Tehran with presenting various categories.

The 30th Tehran International Short Film Festival is scheduled to take place from October 14 to 20, 2013.
