A senior official of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has described recent talks with Iran over the Islamic Republic's nuclear energy program as “very constructive.”
IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards Herman Nackaerts made the comment after the 11th round of talks between the UN atomic energy agency and Iran in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Friday.

He also announced that a new meeting has been scheduled for next month.
“We agreed to meet again on October 28 when we will start substantial discussions on the way forward to resolving all outstanding issues,” Nackaerts told reporters.
The Friday talks were the first round of nuclear negotiations between the Agency and Tehran to take place under the administration of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran has categorically rejected the allegation, stressing that as a committed member of the IAEA and a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities, but has never found any evidence showing that the Iranian nuclear program has been diverted toward non-civilian objectives.
