Spokeswoman: Iran keen on friendly talks with neighbors

12 Sep 2013 - 13:11

Tehran, Sept 11, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Wednesday that Iran is keen on friendly talks with the neighboring countries.
Underlining Iranian sovereignty over the three Persian Gulf Islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Mousa, Afkham said that Iranian foreign policy focuses on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and non-intervention in internal affairs of others.

Afkham condemned the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in Jeddah, for raising false claim which runs counter to Iranian territorial integrity.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses its full sovereignty over the Iranian islands, recalling that all initiatives taken in connection with the islands have always been based on the principles of Iranian territorial integrity and national sovereignty.”

Referring to Iranian peaceful nuclear program, Afkham said the program is fully transparent, in line with Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Safeguards Agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
