Iranian documentary to go on Tatarstan film festival’s screen

The 2013 Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is set to screen Iranian documentary on various Iranian wedding ceremonies and traditions.
Depicting regional wedding traditions, the Iranian screen representative will include two episodes of a documentary series titled Wedding in Iranian Tribes.

Wedding in Turkmen Sahara directed by Nader Masoumi and Wedding in Baluchistan by Mohammad Ali Hashemi Zehi have been selected to represent Iranian traditions at the festival.

Hashemi Zehi’s another documentary Ak Ap As (Soil Water Fire) is also scheduled to compete at the event.

Ak Ap As revolves around those Baluch women and men in south-eastern part of Iran who make beautiful potteries in traditional ways.

Last year’s edition of the gala hosted Reza Mirkarimi’s A Cube of Sugar, Mohammad Ali Hashemzehi’s documentary Sechkanand Fereydoun Hassanpour’s Ziba and I.

Established in 2005, Kazan international film festival is held in the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The festival, also known as the Golden Minbar International Film Festival, is held as a place for regular meetings and an exchange of experience between filmmakers from Russia and Islamic countries.

The purpose of the event is creation of an objective representation of Islam and Muslims in Russia and international community.

This year’s festival will host many filmmakers with the motto of “To the dialogue of cultures through the culture of dialogue.”

The 9th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is to take place from September 4 to 12, 2013.
