Minorities ready to play more active role in Iran development, MP

Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA – An Iranian Armenian lawmaker said Tuesday that members of the religious minorities residing in Iran are ready to play more active role in development and progress of the Islamic Republic.
Karen Khanlari, representing the Armenian community of northern Iran, told IRNA that the Iranian minority groups attach great importance to the countrys national interest.

The MP further praised the respectful approach of President Hassan Rohani towards minorities and their rights.

Armenian Christians in Iran enjoy political freedom, said Khanlari, adding that the Iranian minorities are fully respected based on the principles of the Constitution and enjoy peaceful coexistence with their Muslim brothers.
