Oman’s ruler Sultan Qaboos bin Said will travel to Iran next week on an official visit aimed at consolidation of Tehran-Muscat ties.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Mehr news agency on Sunday that the Omani king will discuss regional issues with the Iranian officials during his visit.
“Tehran’s relations with the Persian Gulf countries are based on friendship, brotherhood and mutual trust,” the Iranian official said, adding that Iran and regional states are determined to upgrade their cooperation in different domains ranging from the environment to security.
The Omani monarch will be the first high-ranking foreign official to visit Tehran since Iran’s new President Hassan Rouhani took office on August 4.
