On July 16 this year, three Iranian climbers- Aydin Bozorgi, Pouya Keyvan and Mojtaba Jarahi went missing at about 7,800 meters while descending from the Broad Peak in Pakistan after successfully conquering it.
After three days and a couple of rescue missions in Pakistan’s Himalayas, finally the search and rescue operations were called off due to severe weather conditions, heavy fog and reduced visibility and the three brave climbers were announced dead. During the ascend, they had managed to establish a new route on the 8,051-meter mountain and called it Route Iran.

On Wednesday, Arash climbing club held a ceremony with the cooperation of Tehran City Council to commemorate the three and their achievement on the world’s 12th highest mountain. Hundreds attended the ceremony to hail the climbers. The three had successfully conquered numerous mountains inside Iran and abroad.

Dozens of firefighters were also present as one of the climbers, Mojtaba, was a firefighter. Mojtaba, Aidin, and Pooya independently established the new route. They sacrificed their lives but stayed where they most enjoyed: mountains.

Their families say they are happy to know that their beloved children are lying at peace in the mountains.
