Iran Confirms Ceasefire with Israel After 12 Days of Escalation
According to The Iran Project, Iranian officials have emphasized that the Islamic Republic acted in self-defense following repeated Israeli attacks on Iranian military and infrastructure targets, including a strike on its diplomatic facility in Damascus. In response, Iran launched precision missile attacks against Israeli military sites, stating its actions were legitimate under international law.

Despite committing to the ceasefire, Iranian defense sources reported continued Israeli strikes shortly after the agreement went into effect. Tehran has accused Israel of violating the terms of the truce within hours, while reaffirming Iran’s commitment to regional stability.

The recent conflict caused widespread disruption across Iranian cities, with over 300,000 residents temporarily fleeing Tehran due to fears of aerial bombardment. Many are now beginning to return as calm begins to take hold. Emergency services are assessing the damage, and reconstruction plans are underway.

Iranian leadership has reaffirmed its sovereign right to defend its people and interests and rejected claims that its nuclear program was a target of aggression. Officials maintain that Iran's nuclear activity remains peaceful and within the bounds of international agreements.

In a diplomatic turn, Iran has agreed to reengage in nuclear negotiations with France, Germany, and the UK in Istanbul. This move signals Iran’s willingness to resolve tensions through dialogue, though it remains firm on its strategic rights and national defense.

While the ceasefire is currently holding, Iranian authorities have warned that any further aggression by Israel will be met with a strong response. For now, Iran remains vigilant but open to de-escalation—on its own terms.
