A senior Iranian lawmaker says the United States seeks to ignite civil unrest in Egypt in an attempt to ensure the Israeli regime’s safe existence.
“The Americans encourage massacre in Egypt and seek to ignite the fire [of war] in Tunisia, and this shows that their best way to [guarantee] the survival of the Zionist regime [of Israel] is civil war, which is a dangerous plot,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday.

Boroujerdi, who is Chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, criticized the government of Egypt’s ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, for trusting Washington.

Egypt plunged into a fresh wave of political chaos after the military deposed Morsi on July 3 and declared the chief justice of Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, as caretaker president the following day.
The Iranian lawmaker further called on the Egyptian leaders to remain vigilant in the face of US and Israeli plots, adding, “The continuation of the current situation leads to the weakness of Egypt and the Islamic world.”
He noted that Tehran considers the ongoing unrest in Egypt as “an internal issue” which concerns the Egyptian nation, stressing that the Islamic Republic does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

Boroujerdi also slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) over its inaction toward the situation in Egypt and Syria.

The Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptian medical sources said on Saturday that at least 150 people had been killed and 5,200 others injured during violent rival rallies that broke out in the Arab country following Morsi’s ouster.
