Iran’s President-elect Hassan Rohani has called on Majlis to cooperate and review Iran’s budget bill for the current Iranian year 1392 (started on March 20, 2013, ending March 20, 2014), a legislator says.
According to Iranian lawmaker Esmail Jalili, the president-elect made the request at his Saturday meeting with 50 Iranian legislators at the Majlis, Iran's parliament news agency, ICANA, reported.
“One of the concerns that he (Rohani) mentioned at the meeting was the cooperation of Majlis with the [next] administration for solving the problems that exist in the 1392 budget bill,” Jalili said.
Considering the delay of the administration of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in implementing the bill, Rohani called for Majlis’ assistance so the bill could be "reformed in a realistic manner," the lawmaker pointed out.

The lawmakers also admitted that the budget bill for the current bill needs to be reviewed, Jalili noted.

The Majlis made major changes to Ahmadinejad’s much-delayed proposed budget bill before it was sent to the Guardian Council and passed into law.

During Ahmadinejad’s eight years in office, the annual budget bills were always submitted with delay, not allowing the Majlis enough time to thoroughly study them.

One of the most controversial issues has always been the subsidy reform plan and the phases that need to be implemented.

Rohani won Iran's June 14 presidential election, garnering 50.7 percent of a total of 36, 704, 156 ballots. Voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.
