Iran urges promotion of strategic ties with Venezuela

Tasnim – In a congratulatory message on Venezuela’s Independence Day, President of Iran Hassan Rouhani called for the enhancement of strategic interaction between Tehran and Caracas.

In a message to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday, Rouhani expressed his sincere congratulations to the Latin American nation on the anniversary of its 1811 independence.

He also stressed the need to broaden the “friendly and strategic” relations between the two countries.

Rouhani expressed confidence that Venezuela will overcome the existing problems and its people will emerge victorious in the near future in light of the “resistance” shown by its government and great nation.

The Iranian president also whished Maduro health and success and prayed for the prosperity of the Latin American country’s people.

The congress of Venezuelan provinces adopted The Venezuelan Declaration of Independence on July 5, 1811. Through the Declaration, Venezuelans made the decision to separate from the Spanish Crown in order to establish a new nation based on the premises of equality of individuals, abolition of censorship and dedication to freedom of expression.

The declaration proclaimed a new nation called the American Confederacy of Venezuela and was ratified by Congress on July 7, 1811.

Iran and Venezuela enjoy high level of diplomatic ties and are strategic allies, as both countries strongly oppose to the US imperialism.

Over the past weeks, Iran has deployed several shipments of gasoline and foodstuff to Venezuela in defiance of the US sanctions.
