Iranian, Uzbek FMs discuss mutual ties

Tasnim – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Uzbek counterpart discussed the latest issues in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Zarif and Abdulaziz Kamilov talked about a range of issues, including mutual ties between Tehran and Tashkent, especially transit issues.

The outbreak of the coronavirus and developments in Afghanistan were among the other topics the two ministers discussed.

Zarif also expressed sympathy over the recent deadly floods in the Central Asian country and offered condolences to the government and people of Uzbekistan, especially the families of the victims.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed ways to enhance the bilateral ties and cooperation amid the global fight against the COVID-19 crisis.
