Iran to help promote women’s education in Pakistan

Islamabad: Dr. Khanum Siddiqa Hijazi , head of Women Section at the World Linkage Organisations, Ministry of Culture & Women Affairs and Representative of Supreme Council, Iran, met with Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi here on Wednesday.
She expressed keen interest in preparing and launching academic programmes for promoting women’s education and family studies in Pakistan through joint venture between AIOU and five big Iranian universities.

Dr. Taqi Sadiqee, cultural counsellor of Iran, Professor Dr. Rashid A Naeem, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, AIOU, Dr. Riffat Haque, head of Gender and Women’s Studies Department, AIOU, Abdul Basit Mujahid and Abdul Wadood also attended the meeting.

The participants of the meeting discussed ways and means to prepare and launch the academic programmes for promotion of women’s education. It was agreed that the proposed agreement between AIOU and 5 big Iranian universities will be signed before the holy month of Ramazan. Under the agreement, the two sides will also cooperate in designing and introducing necessary academic programmes.
