A senior Iranian official says the first Aframax tanker ship Iran has built for the Venezuelan national oil company, PDVSA, is complete and will be delivered to the Latin American country soon.
Iranian Vice President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou told reporters in Moscow on Monday that the issue will be discussed in details in a meeting between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, on the sidelines of the 2nd Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Moscow, Russia.
"One of the subjects to be brought up in this meeting is the issue of three giant ships currently under construction by Iran for Venezuela," he said, adding, "One of these ships is a giant oil tanker whose construction is now complete."
In July 2012, an official at Iran’s Marine Industrial Company (Sadra) said the company had launched the first Aframax tanker it had made for Venezuela at the company's yard in the southern port city of Bushehr.

Salman Zarbi, the managing director of Sadra shipyard, noted that the tanker is 250 meters long, 44 meters wide and 21 meters high and has been launched in a draft depth of 14.8 meters.

The official noted that three more tankers are under construction at Sadra yard for delivery to Venezuela.

Aframax ships are oil tankers smaller than 120,000 metric tons deadweight (DWT) with a breadth of above 32.31 meters.
