Iran plans to double exports to neighbors: Minister

13 Apr 2019 - 9:44

IRNA – Iran has made the necessary planning to double its exports to nearby countries within the next two years, said Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani on Friday.

Rahmani said that Iran’s current exports to nearby countries stand at nearly $25 billion which have to grow to $50 billion by Iranian calendar year of 1400 (March 21, 2021).

Referring to naming the Iranian New Year as “the year of boosting production” by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the minister said that supporting domestic production, creating domestic projects and indigenizing the production of the imported spare parts in all industrial sectors top the agenda of the ministry this year.

Rahmani said that a breakthrough is also expected in the mining sector this year.

The ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade will be focused on exports to neighboring countries this year, said the minister.

He regretted that Iran’s current two percent share of the imports market of the neighboring countries is not satisfactory and has to be boosted.
