Foreign-based Persian language media seeking rift between Iranian people, gov’t

31 Mar 2019 - 20:26

IRNA – Persian language media relyong on financial support from the US and the UK are seeking to create rift between the Iranian nation and government officials, said Iran’s ambassador to the UK Hamid Baeidinejad.

Based on the latest surveys carried out by foreign institutes, public trust in these media has been reduced by a large amount, Baeidinejad said in a series of tweets on Sunday.

He criticized foreign-based Persian language media, including BBC Persian, Manoto and VOA Persian, for the biased coverage of recent floods in Iran so as to show incompetence of the Iranian government to handle the disaster. “This is while today everyone, from the president to the ministers and the military commanders, are present at the scene along with the people.”

The US media are still talking about the problems in Puerto Rico one and a half years after the storm, calling the area “the Forgotten Island”, Baeidinejad said, adding that water and electricity problems are still in place in the island and the primary needs are yet to be resolved and a large number of people have been made to leave their hometown.
