Iran, Iraq probable to ease visa requirements

IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that good news about easing visa requirements between Iran and Iraq is probable to be heard during President Hassan Rouhani’s upcoming visit to Baghdad.


Zarif, who is in Baghdad to pave the way for President Rouhani’s visit to Iraq, made the remarks speaking to the Iraqi media in a news conference in the Iraqi capital.

“In today’s negotiations between delegations of the two countries, good agreements were made, including about visa issuance,” the foreign minister said, expressing hope that simultaneous with President Rouhani’s presence in Baghdad on Monday, the two nations will hear good news in this regard.

He said that the Iranian delegation have proposed that the visa between the two countries be revoked or free of charge or reduced at least.

Negotiations in this regard are still underway, the foreign minister said.
