Trump makes repetitious false claims regarding Iran

12 Dec 2018 - 23:20

Press TV - US President Donald Trump has lied again about Iran in an effort to trick the Democrat-led House of Representativesto agree to pay for the southern border wall.

In a fallacioustweet on Wednesday, Trump wrote that Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars, arguing that they should pay $5 billion for the Mexico border wall.
The Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars and got nothing, but they cant give 5 Billion Dollars for National Security and a Wall?

 Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)December 12, 2018
Trump, who has vowed to stop the inflow of Latin American refugees and immigrants seeking asylum in the US by building a wall on the border with Mexico but has so far failed to do so due to lacking afunding, has uttered numerous lies about Iran to push his agenda through.

The truth about payments to Iran is that the Obama administration paid $1.7 billion to Iran in 2016 to settle legal disputes over a sale of military equipment to Tehran before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iranian officials have already dismissedTrumps claim that Iran'sfrozen assets in overseas banksamounted to around $150 billion.

In total, $29 billion of Iranian cash has been blocked as a result of US sanctions, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced in 2015.

CBI- to which the bulk of frozen assets belongs says$23billion belongs to it, while the remaining $6-$7 billion is the government'srevenues from the sales of crude oil.
