Deputy FM Araghchi: JCPOA participants planning to make up for US withdrawal

4 Dec 2018 - 0:16

MNA – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi has said that the JCPOA participants are planning to compensate for the US withdrawal, adding that they are trying to design operational solutions.

“Iran, in cooperation with the European Union, Russia and China, and other countries that are considered trading partners of Tehran, are developing solutions to keep the doors of cooperation open,” Abbas Araghchi said after meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

"Other members of the JCPOA are trying to design operational solutions so that unilateral US sanctions cannot affect successful implementation of the JCPOA," Araghchi asserted.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister said the efforts to follow-up on the situation of the remaining kidnapped Iranian border guards are continuing, noting that their release was one of the important issues discussed in his meetings with Pakistani officials.

He expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government for the release of 5 of the border guards, adding “we believe that the efforts of the Islamabad government will continue to release remaining border guards."
