27 Nov 2018 - 19:44

November 27, The Iran Project - The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference with the theme of “Quds, Axis of Unity Among Ummah” was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran for three days with participation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and 350 guests from 100 world countries.

The conference started on Saturday (Nov. 24) and wrapped up on Monday (Nov. 26).

On the sidelines of the Islamic conference, several exhibitions were held, the participants mett with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and celebration of the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad was also held.

Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani delivered speech at the closing ceremony of the event.

Speaking to the inaugural session of the conference, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on Muslim nations to unite and stand against hostile policies of the US and Israel.

"Today, the Muslim world is alone and Muslims should join hands. Relying on outsiders is the biggest historical mistake," he stated.

Rouhani said unity and brotherhood among Islamic countries must be assumed as a duty noting that unity, however, cannot be achieved with words and requires collective action.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the annual international conference, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said Jerusalem al-Quds will always remain an integral part of Palestine despite US and Israeli attempts to distort this reality stressing that Palestinians would refuse to give up even an inch of their land.

He went on to say that al-Quds was the pivotal issue of the Muslim world.

Qassem stressed that Hezbollah had “managed to defeat” the Israeli regime in the direct wars and confrontations by “focusing on the issue of Palestine” over the past years.

Also at the event, the leader of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement, Ismail Haniyeh, strongly warned the Arab world against “restoring” ties with Israel, saying all efforts had to be directed at preventing the occupying regime from “infiltrating” the Muslim world.

In the meeting with Iran's Leader on Sunday morning, heads of the three branches of the Iranian government, a number of state and military officials and ambassadors of the Islamic countries were present.

“That the world’s arrogant powers and at the top of them the criminal America and the Great Satan are sensitive to Western Asia is due to a spirit of reception of Islam and Islamic awakening among the regional nations,” he told participants at the international Islamic unity conference.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged thinkers and religious scholars to “strengthen the Islamic awakening and resistance movement in the region as much as they can, because the only way for the salvation of the region is to spread this spirit and thinking.”

During the meeting between Ayatollah Khamenei and participants of an international Islamic unity conference, President Rouhani also addressed the audience and said that the real problem with the enemies of Iran is that it refuses to remain ignorant vis-à-vis their atrocities in the region.

Furthermore, a number of Sunni senior clerics from all over the country met with President Hassan Rouhani Sunday morning on the occasion of Unity Week.

The meeting took place in the first day of Unity Week which marks the week-long gap between the birthday dates of the Islamic Prophet observed by the Shia and Sunni Muslims.
