Oilseeds imports volume at 22% growth in seven months

MNA – Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said that imports of oily seeds into the country in the seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 – Oct. 21) registered a considerable 22 percent hike.







Statistics show that 10,450,000 tons of basic goods, valued at $5.343 billion, were imported into the country in the same period.

Corn, rice, oily seeds, drugs and medicine, edibles, red meat, soybean, barley, fertilizer, sugar, lump sugar and wheat were of the basic products that were imported into the country in the same period.

Corn is the table topper in the list of basic goods imported into the country in the same period. In this regard, 4,766,000 of corn, valued at $1.118 billion, were imported into the country, recording a significant 21 percent growth as compared to the same period of last year.

In the same period, 1,788,000 tons of oily seeds, valued at $924 million, were imported into the country, showing a significant 22 percent growth in terms of value.

About 90 percent of goods imported into the customs offices are discharged in less than three days, IRICA added.
