The Iranian Embassy in Ankara has called on its tourists, residents and students in Turkey to stay away from the venues of protests and from places where gathering has been prohibited by the police.
In a written statement on late June, the embassy announced that they had asked the Turkish Foreign Ministry for information about “agitator” reports in the media that Iranian citizens were detained on suspicion of contributing to provocations in Gezi Park demonstrations. An Iranian citizen taken into custody at the protests was released at short notice, the ministry told the embassy, according to the statement.
