1 Aug 2018 - 8:52

IRNA – Incumbent government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht announced President Hassan Rouhani’s agreement to change government spokesman.

Nobakht wrote in cyber space on Tuesday that the request was made in a bid to decrease the effects of the enemies’ recent pressures and new conditions facing the country requires double efforts by all officials.

“Although I have shouldered two responsibilities simultaneously and they overlap in many cases, I asked the president to allow me to concentrate all my power on planning and budget, which fortunately was accepted by him,” he said.

Earlier, Nobakht told reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting that now is not time to settle political account, noting, “I resigned from all my responsibilities to give president an open hand to reshuffle cabinet but I could not convince him to accept it.”

The Iranian media have been reporting for the past week that changes in the economic team of President Hassan Rouhani’s administration are expected following a jump in forex, gold coin and housing prices.
