Independent presidential candidate Mohsen Rezaei says finding solutions for rural unemployment and migration, social maladies, market regulation as well as substandard production will top his agenda if elected president in the June 14 election.
Addressing a group of his supporters in the northwestern city of Qazvin on Tuesday, Rezaei warned against the dangers of youth joblessness.

He noted that the major problems in the country are low agricultural production, and the closure of factories in rural areas.

Rezaei, who is currently secretary of the Expediency Council, stated that the youths have migrated to big cities in search of jobs, leaving the elderly behind.

He added that the next administration will have no chance for trial and error.

Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, President of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, former First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi are the seven rivals against whom Rezaei is competing.

Iranians will go to the polls in the country’s 11th presidential election on June 14. The fourth city and rural council elections are also scheduled to be held on the same day.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election, with more than 1.6 million first-time voters.
