President Rouhani leaves Istanbul for Tehran

19 May 2018 - 9:17

IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani left Istanbul for Tehran early Saturday after participating in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Palestine.

In his speech at the OIC meeting on Friday, the Iranian President condemned occupation of Palestinian territories as a big threat to global peace, saying if developed and democratic countries surround the Zionist regime and if it faces a united Ummah, it can never continue its crimes.

The Iranian president also proposed six initiatives and practical suggestions, calling on all Muslims and Islamic states to exercise unity in action and cooperate to build a stronger, more stable region away from futile disputes of attrition.

Rouhani underscored that criminal Zionists have challenged the international community before the tearful eyes of the world by trampling upon human dignity and belittling all values, adding: “If the Zionist regime is surrounded by developed, democratic countries and faces a united Ummah, it will never be able to continue its crimes so easily.”

He also held talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the OIC meeting.
