US corrects anti-Iran allegations

1 May 2018 - 9:56

IRNA – The White House corrected error in the statement released Monday night verifying baseless allegations made by the Zionist regime regarding Iran secret nuclear activities.

A couple of hours after the Zionist PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s false claims, White House released a statement saying “The United States is aware of the information just released by Israel and continues to examine it carefully. This information provides new and compelling details about Iran’s efforts to develop missile-deliverable nuclear weapons.”

Washington continued by saying that “Iran had a robust, clandestine nuclear weapons program that it has tried and failed to hide from the world and from its own people.”

The NBC National Correspondent Peter Alexander wrote on his Twitter account that “The White House adjusts its statement on Iran to say Iran “had,” not “has,” a “robust, clandestine nuclear weapons program that it has tried & failed to hide from the world...”

“White House official blames a “clerical error” for wrong tense — a “mistake” that significantly changed the meaning, especially since the Trump administration, as recently as this month, acknowledged Iran was complying with terms of the nuclear deal,” he added.

Netanyahu has claimed Israel has obtained 'Iran’s secret files' which reveal it is still pursuing nuclear weapons program secretly even after the JCPOA came into effect.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has compared Netanyahu to a liar shepherd who wants to tell lies over Iran’s nuclear drive.

UN neuclear watchdog IAEA has on several occasions verified peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program under the JCPOA, to which Iran has remained committed since it went into force.

The JCPOA stands for Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the official name of the agreement reached between Iran and six world major powers in 2015 to give Tehran sanctions relief in return for scaling back its nuclear program.
