MNA – The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on Wednesday marking the anniversary of the founding of the IRGC in 1979.


“The pure tree of the IRGC has developed and spread Basij in the country and has always foiled the diverse plots of different domestic and foreign enemies of the Islamic Revolution,” reads a statement issued on Wednesday by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The statement was rolled out to mark the National Day of the Guards of IRGC which is celebrated according to lunar calendar in Iran on the third day of Sha’ban month. Also the 2nd day of the second month of the Iranian calendar, Ordibehesht, is the anniversary of the day Imam Khomeini issued the decree to establish IRGC in 1979.
