Publishing license of Cheshmeh Publication revoked

10 Jun 2012 - 15:22

Cultural deputy of Islamic Guidance and Culture Minister Bahman Dorri said on Thursday (June 7) that the publishing license of Cheshmeh publication has been revoked and its case is sent to judicial proceedings.

Bahman Dorri claimed that the reason why the license of Cheshmeh publication has been canceled is its insult to one of the religious figures of Islam - the third Imam of Shiites.

Since 1985 (1364), Cheshmeh publication has begun its activities, and it mostly published books in the fields of literature, cinema and performing arts, etc.

In 27 years have passed since the start of the Cheshmeh's activities, many of the Iranian famous writers, translators, and researchers have worked with this publication.

Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance did not allow some authentic Iranian publications, such as Cheshmeh and Sales, to attend in the 2012 Tehran International Book Fair, because of unfounded charges.

It seems that Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has previously had trouble with this publication and this is an excuse to revoke its license.
