IRGC unveils latest military achievements

February 28, The Iran Project - Three specialized centers including the aviation training center, specialized helicopter maintenance, and helicopter research center were opened with the aim of boosting the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps inaugurated on Wednesday (Feb. 28).

Meanwhile, IRGC also unveiled on Wednesday a new domestically-manufactured anti-armored missile called ‘Azarakhsh’ (‘Lightning’) on the sidelines of event in the presence of IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and other Armed Forces' commanders.

‘Azarakhsh’ locks on targets at a maximum distance of 6km. It comes equipped with a thermal explorer and is used in low-altitude air operations and against ground targets.

Addressing the gathering, Commander Jafari announced the Guard Corps’ plan to boost drone and helicopter capabilities due to their decisive roles during operations.

“Due to the decisive role of using drones and helicopters in operations, we have made a decision to incorporate more use of such technology in IRGC operations, particularly in helliborne and identifying the enemies’ locations in operation areas,” he added.

Also recently, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the Deputy Commander of the IRGC, hailed the scientific progress of the IRGC-owned University of Imam Hossein displayed at a fair in Tehran.

Addressing the “Lusters of Change in the IRGC Fair” at University of Imam Hossein, he said the exhibition  is a demonstration of precise, deep, and complete road map to pave the way for a new scientific might, credit and power of our country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Brigadier General Salami pointed to the weak US anti-missile systems and said that US warfare is unable to ward off imminent attacks.

US once had a global governance in the world which steered UK and Iraq as well as some other reactionary Arab states and Zionist regime to confront with Iran, he said, adding, “today, US and Israeli positions have been undermined in the global arena to a great extent, Salami stressed.
