US should not impose conditions or ultimatum on JCPOA

17 Jan 2018 - 18:03

ISNA - Iranian President's political deputy Majid Takht-Ravanchi emphasized that Iran doesn’t welcome to enter the phase of withdrawing from the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator with the P5+1, Takht-Ravanchi said in an exclusive interview with ISNA, “European governments know that this is a big problem that the world's major banks are not willing to work with Iran. This issue can affect their trade relations with Iran but we have already made significant progress in negotiations over the issue”.

“The negotiations between Iran’s oil ministry and major European companies are underway but it should be noted that the process of this kind of subject that seeking to lead to an oil and gas agreement lasts a bit and needs an examination of all aspects of the work,” he added.

Referring to the US president remarks on Friday and his three-month deadline to withdraw from the JCPOA, Takht-Ravanchi said, “Actually, the Americans shouldn’t impose conditions or ultimatum on the JCPOA”.

Predicting Europe’s position after the three-month deadline, the Iranian senior official said,“ European Union regards JCPOA as one of its major achievements, and its support for the JCPOA is not for economic reasons. The nuclear deal is recognized as an achievement of the EU foreign policy; therefore, it is politically important for them to maintain the agreement”.
