Majlis speaker: Islamic world problems solvable only through unity

14 Jan 2018 - 11:15

IRNA – Iran's Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that Islamic world is now facing huge tensions which can be solved only through unity and solidarity among Muslim states.

In a meeting with Parliament Vice Speaker of Burkina Faso Salifu Timore, he added that international conference of Islamic countries (now underway in Tehran) is an opportunity to come up with common solutions to current challenges.

“Today, we witness adventurist moves such as US relocation of its embassy (from Tel Aviv) to the Holy Quds,” he said.

The top legislator maintained that International Conference of Islamic Countries would pave the way for promotion of relations among these nations.
He voiced Iran’s readiness to upgrade its ties with Burkina Faso, saying that parliamentary friendly groups of the two countries can take measures in this respect.

Timore, for his part, said that his country is willing to forge ties with Tehran in all fields, especially in the fields of trade and economy.

Expressing concern over US President Donald Trump’s decisions, he further pointed out that relocations of US embassy to Quds is one his dangerous measures which should be blocked and this requires solidarity among Muslim states.

“We support your stance vis-à-vis the US and Israel and hope that we would achieve positive results in the ongoing conference,” he said.

Timore invited Larijani to visit Burkina Faso in a bid to help promote bilateral ties.

Expert meeting of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States attended by 44 countries opened in Tehran today.
