The nominee of Iran’s Coalition of Five Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard has promised not to withdraw from the presidential race if he is approved by the Guardian Council.
On May 9, the principlist coalition selected Aboutorabi-Fard as its candidate for the June 14 polls.

Yahya Al-e Eshaq, the chairman of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, General Inspection Office of Iran Director Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, and lawmaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar are the other members of the Coalition of Five.

Aboutorabi-Fard said he will try to make use of qualified managers in his government if elected as president.

The principlist hopeful expressed optimism that the 11th presidential election will once again witness a huge turnout of eligible and enthusiastic voters.

Aboutorabi-Fard, who is also the deputy parliament speaker, further stressed that Iran should endeavor to become one of the world’s strongest political and economic powers.

A total of 686 individuals signed up for the presidential race during the registration period, which began on May 7 at Iran’s Interior Ministry and ended on May 11.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.

The Guardian Council, a 12-member body consisting of six jurists and six theologians, is tasked with vetting the hopefuls and confirming the election results.
