Intelligence Minister: 120 terrorist teams disbanded in Iran

2 Dec 2017 - 22:01

FNA- Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi announced that his forces have disbanded tens of terrorist teams in the past few years.

"The enemies want to challenge security in the country," Alavi said, addressing a meeting in Alborz province near Tehran on Saturday.

He stressed the need for the Iranian security forces to keep vigilant against enemies' plots, and said, "Over 120 terrorist teams which sought to carry out sabotage acts in Iran have been disbanded."

In relevant remarks in June, Alavi announced that the security forces disbanded a terrorist team in the Western province of Kordestan the same day, blaming Saudi Arabia for recent insecurities in Iran.

"Today, a terrorist team was attacked by the security forces and disbanded," he said.

Alavi added that the team consisted of 7 terrorists, including 5 Iranian and 2 foreign nationals from the neighboring countries.

He also said that another terrorist team was disbanded in the Southeastern city of Chabahar in Sistan and Balouchestan province, adding that intelligence shows that the Saudis have hired mercenaries from the neighboring states to create insecurity inside Iran.
