IRNA – Iran and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.

Prosecutors-general of Iran and Russia Mohammad Jaafar Montazeri and Yuri Chaika signed the MoU.

In the meeting, the two sides underlined importance of expansion of cooperation between the two bodies.

Chaika reminded that consolidation of cooperation between the prosecutors' offices will help to closeness of stances of the two states in many political issues, including fight against crimes.

He added that new challenges and threats will be created in the process of fight against terrorism, financial corruption and piracy in the modern technologies, which could be ceased only by joint efforts and cooperation between the two countries.

Montazeri and the accompanying delegation are to attend the 15th Meeting of Prosecutors General of member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which kicks off its 2-day meeting on Wednesday.
